Pre-Contest Vote 2015: Belgium

Welcome back to the ESC Views’ Pre-Contest Vote 2015! If you are unfamiliar with what this involves, do go ahead and click this link to take you to the ‘Launch Page’ of the competition. As more and more of these articles are written, they will be added to this page, so you can navigate between each country as you so wish.

Today sees the turn of Belgium, who will be competing third in the first semi-final. ‘Rhythm Inside’ was chosen internally, as was the artist (many months ago) in the form of teenager Loïc Nottet, runner-up on the most recent series of The Voice Belgique. The song is a Lorde-esque trippy number that has many fans intrigued – can it succeed live? Aged only eighteen (nineteen soon), can he handle the pressure? Will this slice of contemporary pop appeal to enough voters?

Our opinions:

Rory – There’s no doubt that Belgium is my #1 this year. Loïc has a fantastic voice – both in the studio and live -and should they get the staging right, we might have a dark horse here. Score :12 points of 12.

Lewis – What a brilliant song! I think this has the potential to be a dark horse in the contest, although I’m still struggling to make sense of the video . Score: 10 points out of 12.

Reece – Very mainstream and appealing – I think this will do well in the public voting, but the juries may forget about it. The live vocals will be key here. Score: 7 points out of 12.

Lauren – Uh…it’s…well, I guess it’s okay.  It’s very reminiscent of a certain New Zealand-born singer.  It’s not bad, it’s just that there’s nothing special about it.  Score – 6 points out of 12.

That’s just our opinions though – 29 out of a possible 36 points – but you can cast your vote below!

Well, there we have it – keep an eye on ESC Views for the next few weeks as we continue our look at each competing nation and what we think of their chances. Any other thoughts? Leave a comment down below!
