On the last day before Eurovision month, we’re looking at Maria Ólafsdóttir’s song ‘Unbroken’. It won the ticket to Vienna through the Söngvakeppnin national selection. Iceland have had fairly variable results at Eurovision in the past, with Yohanna coming second to Alexander Rybak and coming last on two previous occasions.

Here’s what the jury members think:

Lewis – Well, it makes a lovely change from the seas of ballads this year. Iceland are always needlessly neglected by the juries and public, but I think they have a song worthy of the top 10 here, although I’m still favouring Heroes. 7/12.

Reece – My second favourite of year – Iceland do tend to be perennially underrated in the contest, and do deserve to win soon. While this song won’t do that, the atmosphere generated on stage, plus the impressive vocal ability of Maria should really see a good finish for the country next month. 10/12

Rory – Iceland by all means has the best song from Scandinavia this year. María has the vocal capability to make this record grow and grow until its dramatic end. Sad it ends quite abruptly though! 7/12

Lauren – I personally think that this one is one of my favourites this year. It sounds the sort of thing you’d hear on the radio (which never happens for Eurovision songs), so I would be very, very surprised if this didn’t make it into the final. 8/12

Total: 32/48
