Belarus: Alyona Lanskaya “getting ready” to return to Eurovision

Former Belarusian Eurovision entrant Alyona Lanskaya has stated in an interview that she is “getting ready” to return to Eurovision.

In an interview with Belorussian newspaper, Komsomolskaya Prvada, 2013 representative Lanskaya discussed the “Slavic Bazaar”, in which she came to prominence in 2011 after winning the competition. She also talked about leaving the “Spamash” production centre of which she was a part of for a long time.

Lanskaya also discussed her Eurovision experience three years ago in Malmö and commented on the success of the song post-Eurovision. She stated:

I am proud that I was able to get to this competition: even if it was the third attempt. […]  Now I have a lot of fans and abroad. The song “Solayoh” is still popular in Turkey . And in Spain under my song passes the city parade [sic].

The interviewer then asked Alyona if a return to the Contest is in the pipeline, she replied:

Now that the time has passed, I can confidently say that I’m once again preparing for the competition. The song is available in the bins! [sic].

This hints at the possibility of Lanskaya preparing for the upcoming Eurovision in Ukraine. As stated by Alyona, a song is being prepared, but its release is unknown.

Belarus has not formally confirmed participation in next year’s Eurovision in Ukraine. However, if they do confirm, it will be Belarus’ 14th appearance in the competition. Their best result is 6th place in 2007 with Dmitry Koldun with “Work Your Magic”. Belarus has qualified for the final four times, with Alyona Lanskaya qualifying and finishing in 16th place with 48 points in Malmö with the song “Solayoh”.
