Hi everyone! An exciting part of the preparation for Vienna 2015 has just taken place, the stage has been unveiled by ORF. It will incorporate the bridge theme and make use of a black/white contrast. To me, it seems a little smaller than in previous years and a little brighter. Also, I think it looks similar to 2007, and some are disappointed that there is no clear bridge between the stage and the audience, but what do you think? Lewis
Ending a 3 year run of Valentina Monetta representing San Marino with varying levels of success, SMRTV have selected Michele Perniola and Anita Simoncini to represent the country in Vienna.
Who are they?
They are both 16 years old, making them the youngest pair to ever compete in Eurovision. Michele won the talent show ‘Ti lascio una canzone’ on Rai and represented his country in their first Junior Eurovision appearance in 2013.
Anita Simoncini has studied singing as part of a choir directed by Fausto Giacomini and is studying with Linda Hermes. Continuing with the Junior Eurovision link, she was one-fifth of ‘The Peppermints’, representing San Marino in this year’s Junior Eurovision.
San Marino debuted in Eurovision in 2008 and have failed to qualify for the final on every occasion, up until this year in Copenhagen, where Valentina Monetta qualified with the song ‘Maybe’ to eventually place 24th overall.
Let’s see what the fans say:
“I wanted Paola & Chiara or Senit” – Charlton, Malta.
“Young and fresh I like it good luck San Marino” Bradley, UK
So there’s a mixed bunch of reviews; only time will tell, how well do YOU think San Marino will do this year?
See you for the next selection!
I thought I’d introduce myself. I’m Lewis, the new ESC Views editor!
When did my obsession with Eurovision start? – The first contest I remember watching was Moscow 2009, but my favourite was Azerbaijan 2012, probably because Euphoria is, in my opinion, the best Eurovision winner ever.
Why did I decide to become an editor? – I often look at ESC news sites, and when I saw the opportunity arise to write for this blog, I applied and got in! The best thing about this is that I don’t have to annoy my friends as much and can talk to them about something other than Eurovision!
Have I ever been to an ESC? – No, but maybe in the future. 😦
If you have any questions for me, please leave a comment below, and I’ll have a go at answering them!
So, until the next national final, goodbye!
