Monika Kuszyńska to represent Poland!

Hi everyone,

Monika Kuszyńska has been internally selected to represent Poland with the song ‘In The Name Of Love’. She also co-wrote the song along with Kuba Raczyński.

For those who are unaware, Monika was previously the lead singer of the Polish pop rock band Varius Manx, but has changed her style to enter (yet another) ballad into the Contest this year. She suffered a road accident in 2006, which left her partially paralysed, but she continued to sing regardless.

I can’t really differentiate this song from all of the other ballads and fear that it may not advance to the Grand Final. It will depend on her performance, but many other countries are in this position. Although, it does fit the contest theme well this year.

What do you think about Poland’s chances?

It’s This Time for Lithuania this time!

Hi everyone!

So, Lithuania has finished their rather complicated selection process, in which the artist and song were chosen separately. A combination of televoting and an expert jury unanimously picked This Time, written by Vytautas Bikus and Monika Liubinaitė.

The song is quite cheerful and memorable, and has much more merits to its name than previous Lithuanian entries (who can forget the shoes called Love and Pain)! Vaidas and Monika have that on-stage relationship like in Norway’s entry this year, but I still want to know how they’re going to pull it off on stage, because a place in the final will probably depend on it! I found it quite bland in the national final to be honest.

What do you think?

ESC Views has a new editor!

Hi everyone!

I thought I’d introduce myself. I’m Lewis, the new ESC Views editor!

When did my obsession with Eurovision start? – The first contest I remember watching was Moscow 2009, but my favourite was Azerbaijan 2012, probably because Euphoria is, in my opinion, the best Eurovision winner ever.

Why did I decide to become an editor? – I often look at ESC news sites, and when I saw the opportunity arise to write for this blog, I applied and got in! The best thing about this is that I don’t have to annoy my friends as much and can talk to them about something other than Eurovision!

Have I ever been to an ESC? – No, but maybe in the future. 😦

If you have any questions for me, please leave a comment below, and I’ll have a go at answering them!

So, until the next national final, goodbye!
